Legacy Applications Modernization

Content & Learning Management Systems
A complete redesign of several related applications for users to more easily find and consume learning materials, create and manage quizzes/surveys, supported learning media element uploads, reporting features and other custom content management solutions.

It all starts with empathy, personas and user stories. Virtually all of the applications needed a major overhaul after some unmoderated (in-person and virtual) user tests. Continuing of the design process brought me to ideation, wireframes, lofi mockups, then to hi-res and clickable prototyping to make the best quality applications and experience

Site Mapping, Personas, Interviews and Usability Testing

User Research Duties

Researched, interviewed, surveyed and dug through analytics to iteratively improve designs based on real user feedback. Results found major pain-points and apportunities for improvement, resulting in targeted personas user flows and a baseline data set for future iterations.

Wireframing, High fidelity Mock-ups, and Clickable Prototyping

Updating Legacy Applications

A comprehensive overhaul of the way users find related courseware and other learning materials. Improved text-based search, category filtering with breadcrumbs, and table-level sorting and filtering to help users find direct and related content depending upon needs.

Technologies used: Adobe XD for design, React front-end overhaul with new elastic search instance for results.

Design for complex interactions

Complex interactions

Merged both User-Centered and Design Thinking methodologies to create easy to use interfaces that have a consistent look and feel.  Allowing users to accomplish seemingly complex business tasks in an efficient and easy to use manner.  Created relationships with multiple stakeholders and users to test along the way.

Delivery, Interviews and more Usability Testing

Continue to Improve

After progressing through the UX journey, it was time to deliver and present the results to stakeholders throughout the company.  It felt right to deliver several options to allow stakeholders to critique and evaluate on the different designs presented.

And although we've come along way, we wanted to continually improve on the product and will continue to collect feedback and improve and expand the functionality as needed.
